Fair Trade Coffee Saves Farms and Farmers, Nicaraguan visitor tells Torontonians at Alternative Grounds Coffee Shop

On September 24th, 2002, Nicaraguan activist Blanca Rosa Molina told guests at Alternative Grounds Coffee House that the use of Fair Trade coffee at businesses like Alternative Grounds was making an important difference for the better to Nicaraguan coffee farmers. While international commodity coffee prices have been dropping like a stone recently, resulting in economic and social distress, and, in some cases, loss of their farms, for small coffee farmers, conscious consumers around the world are helping to stabilize things. Blanca's message: our shopping choices can change the world.
