will bring together three of Canada's leading experts in this field
for a lively and thought-provoking evening of discussion and debate.
Keynote speaker
Ed Broadbent is well known to Canadians as the former leader of
the NDP. Since his days of party leadership, he has been very active
on both political and economic democracy issues. Most recently he co-chaired
the Canadian Democracy and Corporate Accountability Commission. Mr.
Broadbent will speak on the "The New Balance Sheet: Corporate Profits
and Responsibility in the 21st Century".
Following
the keynote address, the audience will be treated to two differing perspectives
on how the concerned citizen and investor can respond.

Jim
Stanford, labour economist, author of Paper Boom and frequent
contributor to the Globe and Mail, will argue that "socially
responsible investment" is oversold, largely ineffective and diverting
attention from more substantive alternatives.

Robert
Walker, Vice President, Socially Responsible Investment(SRI) Policy
& Research at Ethical Funds Inc. will argue the need for investment
in socially responsible mutual funds and the importance of shareholder
actions. message: our shopping choices can change the world.
The forum will provide
the audience with an opportunity to join the discussion and debate.
